Adrià Pericas wins seventh stage of Volta a Portugal

Adrià Pericas, riding for UAE Team Emirates XRG, won the seventh stage of the 2026 Volta a Portugal. The 20-year-old Spaniard secured the victory at the finish in Vila do Gerês, completing the 153-kilometer course in 3 hours, 48 minutes, and 32 seconds with an average speed of 40.1 km/h.

With this win, Pericas has climbed to third place in the general classification, trailing the leader, Alexis Guérin, by 1 minute and 57 seconds. Pericas also maintains a significant lead in the youth classification, holding an 11-minute and 9-second advantage over Rafael Barbas.

The stage was notably challenging due to high temperatures and significant elevation, totaling 3,188 meters. The route also featured a rare inclusion of Spanish territory, a occurrence not seen in the race since 1995. Alexis Guérin, representing Anicolor-Campicarn, remains in the overall lead with a 47-second margin over his teammate Artem Nych.
