Adrian Mopp appointed Western Cape Director of Public Prosecutions

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Adrian Carl Mopp as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for the Western Cape Division, effective September 10, 2026. The appointment was made in accordance with the National Prosecuting Authority Act following consultations with Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi.

Advocate Mopp brings over 30 years of legal and prosecutorial experience to the role. He has served as the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in the Western Cape since 2009 and previously held senior positions within the Asset Forfeiture Unit and the Directorate of Special Operations, where he served as the Regional Head for the Western Cape from 2004 to 2009.

His professional background includes extensive work in complex criminal prosecutions involving organized crime, drug trafficking, and serious violent crime. Mopp holds advanced academic qualifications, including a Master of Philosophy in Law and a Master of Laws in Criminal Justice and Criminology.
