Adrian Severin criticizes CJUE rulings regarding Romanian constitutional order

Former Foreign Minister and OSCE President Adrian Severin has criticized the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJUE), arguing that its rulings and political-legal discourse have caused significant disturbances to the Romanian constitutional order.

Severin claims the CJUE has used judicial precedents to substitute or modify the provisions of constitutive treaties under the guise of interpretation. He asserts that the European Commission has tacitly transferred the function of imposing a specific political-legal entity to the Court to avoid renegotiating European treaties.

According to Severin, these actions have challenged the supremacy of the Romanian Constitution within the hierarchy of EU law and have led to the disregard of decisions made by the Constitutional Court of Romania. He further contends that such policies have resulted in the limitation of human and citizen rights as established by Romanian law.
