Adrian Siemieniec faces disciplinary probe over referee messages
Adrian Siemieniec, the coach of Jagiellonia Białystok, is facing a disciplinary investigation following revelations that he sent text messages to referee Paweł Raczkowski. The messages, sent around May 2026 before a match against Katowice, reportedly sought to ensure that certain players nearing card limits would receive warnings rather than immediate sanctions.
Siemieniec has admitted to the communication, describing it as “unnecessary” and a “mistake,” while maintaining that he had no ill intentions. The incident has sparked significant controversy within Polish football, with Wisła Kraków president Jarosław Królewski calling for a severe penalty, such as a suspension of the coach's license, to protect the league's integrity.
Former referee Rafał Rostkowski noted that such contact is strictly prohibited and could be viewed as an attempt to gain an unfair advantage. The case is currently before the PZPN Disciplinary Committee, with potential penalties ranging from fines to disqualification.
