Adriana Paz discusses cinema's social impact at Morelia Film Festival

Mexican actress Adriana Paz discussed the social impact of cinema during the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) following the presentation of the film ‘La cazadora’. Directed by Suzanne Andrews Correa, the film is inspired by real events in Ciudad Juárez and follows a mother working in a maquiladora who takes action to protect her daughter amidst violence and a lack of justice.

Paz, who recently shared the Best Actress award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for ‘Emilia Pérez’, emphasized that cinema serves as a vital tool for breaking through social bubbles and exposing realities of violence and vulnerability that many people do not experience firsthand. She noted that the production team engaged deeply with the local conditions and daily routines of women in Ciudad Juárez to better portray the impact of violence in the region.
