Adriana Terenzi identified via DNA after remains found in Mar del Plata

DNA analysis has confirmed that human remains found on the beaches of Mar del Plata belong to Adriana Terenzi, a 64-year-old woman who had been missing since July 6. The identification was made by the Forensic Genetics Laboratory in Junín, Buenos Aires province, following a comparison with samples provided by her family.

Terenzi was last seen leaving her home in Batán, near Mar del Plata, leaving behind a note indicating she was unwell. Her family noted she had been undergoing medical treatment for depression. Biological remains were discovered by a security guard at Playa Alicante on July 25.

The confirmation brings a painful conclusion to a month-long search that involved the Naval Prefecture, tactical divers, and specialized search dogs. The family is now waiting for the formal written report to arrange for the remains to be returned to Mar del Plata for a funeral.
