Adriatic Gate Container Terminal reaches 4 million TEU milestone
Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), operated by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) at the Port of Rijeka, has reached a milestone of handling four million TEUs since joining the ICTSI Group in 2011.
The achievement marks fifteen years of partnership and follows the terminal reaching the two million TEU mark five years ago. AGCT serves as a regional Adriatic gateway, connecting global shipping networks to Central and Southeast European markets, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, and Slovakia, via rail and road.
To support this growth, AGCT completed a EUR 35 million investment program in late 2025. This included the addition of two super post-Panamax quay cranes and two hybrid rubber-tired gantry cranes. The terminal is also transitioning toward sustainability by replacing diesel-powered terminal tractors with electric units and converting existing cranes to hybrid operations.
