Adriatic-Ionian Railway Corridor initiative signed

An initiative to establish the Adriatic-Ionian Railway Corridor has been officially signed, marking a primary step toward creating a strategic transport link between Central and Southeastern Europe. The project aims to connect Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, and Greece.

Key signatories included European Parliament Member Nikolina Brnjac, Zadar County Prefect Josip Bilaver, representatives from various Croatian coastal counties, and State Secretary Žarko Tušek. The corridor is intended to link major ports including Trieste, Koper, Rijeka, Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Ploče, Bar, and Durrës, as well as Greek centers.

The initiative focuses on both reconstructing existing lines and constructing new tracks to enhance the connectivity of Croatian ports with the European market. Proponents emphasized that the corridor will facilitate the transport of goods and passengers, support economic development, and promote sustainable tourism while providing secure transport routes.
