Adriatic ports enhance trade connectivity for Austria
At the VNL-Südhafenforum 2026 in Graz/Werndorf, industry experts discussed strategies to improve the efficiency and reliability of supply chains between the Adriatic Sea and Central Europe. The forum, titled ‘Corridors 2030 – Strategies for Efficient Supply Chains’, focused on the growing importance of North Adriatic ports for Austria and the broader Central and Eastern European markets.
Discussions highlighted how investments in additional transshipment capacities and improved hinterland connections are creating new opportunities for trade and industry. Representatives from the Port of Koper detailed investments in capacity, rail infrastructure, and sustainable technologies, while the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal Rijeka emphasized the increasing significance of Austria as a target market and the ongoing investments along the Adriatic-Central Europe connection.
