Adriatic region cross-border projects conclude with focus on tourism and climate
Several cross-border European projects focused on the Adriatic region have reached their conclusion, emphasizing sustainable development and climate resilience through Italian-Croatian cooperation.
The CYROS (Adriatic Ionian Cycle Route for Sustainable Tourism) project, funded under the Interreg Italy-Croatia program, has completed its mission to develop a cycling corridor. Key achievements include the establishment of the ‘Bike&Bus’ line, featuring a free bus service between Trieste and Poreč designed for cyclists, and testing the integration of bicycle transport with high-speed passenger catamarans on the Cesenatico–Rovinj line.
Simultaneously, the AdriaClimPlus project concluded with a conference at the CMCC Foundation in Lecce. This initiative focused on strengthening climate change resilience in the Adriatic region through scientific research, innovative monitoring systems, and advanced climate services. The project provided tools for coastal communities to adapt to environmental changes, utilizing climate modeling and remote sensing to support regional sustainability.
