Adrián Barbón calls for deeper federalism in Spain

Adrián Barbón, the President of Asturias, has called for Spain to deepen its federalism. Speaking at the 'Fiesta de la España Plural' event, Barbón suggested that the current autonomous state system was an attempt to implement federal realities within a traditionally centralist state.

Barbón, who intends to run again as the PSOE candidate in the upcoming Asturian regional elections, also advocated for increased institutional loyalty and respect in Spanish politics. He drew comparisons to the political climate in Uruguay following a recent trip to South America.

Additionally, the President warned against political movements, specifically mentioning Vox, that seek to dismantle the autonomous community system. He also emphasized the need for dialogue between different levels of government to address shared responsibilities, such as the housing crisis.
