ADRU celebrates 46 years of higher education commitment in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU) celebrated its 46th anniversary on August 20. The event included a thanksgiving service held at the Santa María de la Anunciación University Parish of the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (UCSD).

Attendees included the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Rafael Santos Badía, along with viceministries, university rectors, academic authorities, and students. ADRU President and rector of the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE), Isaac García de la Cruz, noted that the organization was founded on August 18, 1980, to create a unified voice for academic institutions.

García de la Cruz also addressed the ongoing transformation and reform of the Dominican educational system. He stated that the association is prepared to contribute to the national dialogue, emphasizing that reform should preserve existing progress while addressing areas for improvement.
