ADS Groep relocates from Goor following monument status dispute
ADS Groep is relocating its operations from Goor to Hengelo after nearly eighty years in the area. The move follows a dispute with the municipality of Hof van Twente regarding the monument status of the company’s building on Nieuwenkampsmaten.
The building, which features a facade inspired by architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, was placed on the municipal monument list in late 2025. Director Michel Dijk stated that the protected status prevents necessary renovations required to meet modern building technical requirements, healthy building guidelines, and space efficiency needs.
ADS Groep and the property owner, Zenkelvast, have filed an objection against the municipality, claiming the decision was based on incorrect grounds. While the legal procedure is ongoing, the company is moving its 235 employees to ensure organizational continuity and a proper working environment. The company has indicated it intends to hold the municipality of Hof van Twente liable for all damages incurred.
