ADTechnology and Fraunhofer IIS partner for semiconductor development

ADTechnology and Fraunhofer IIS have entered a collaboration to co-develop high-performance, low-power custom semiconductor solutions. The partnership combines Fraunhofer IIS’s expertise in system and algorithm design with ADTechnology’s ASIC design services, which utilize Samsung Foundry’s process technologies. The collaboration aims to serve European customers in sectors such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and automotive industries, with a specific focus on AI data center accelerators and chiplet-based architectures to support Sovereign AI initiatives.

Separately, Fraunhofer has announced the successful silicon evaluation of its RISC-V Secure Element. Based on the OpenTitan project, this technology is now available as licensable Intellectual Property (IP) for integration into SoCs, ASICs, and chiplets. The secure element provides hardware-level functions including a Hardware Root of Trust, secure boot, and protected firmware updates, designed to help companies meet regulatory requirements like the Cyber Resilience Act in critical sectors such as industrial automation, medical technology, and edge computing.
