Advancements in low-carbon fuel and electric vehicle power technology

Researchers at the University of Sharjah’s Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) have developed four low-carbon, high-octane gasoline blends known as the HyperFuel series. These formulations—HyperFuel-95, 98, 100, and 102—combine petroleum components with bio-derived isopropanol and methyl ester of dimate (MED). MED acts as a renewable octane booster, achieving a Research Octane Number (RON) of 131.5. This technology aims to reduce carbon footprints in internal combustion engines used in aviation, motorsports, and everyday fleets without requiring immediate transitions to electric vehicles.

Separately, the concept of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology is gaining prominence in the electric vehicle sector. V2L allows an electric car to function as a portable power source by using its high-voltage battery to power external electrical devices, such as laptops, tools, or camping equipment, through compatible sockets or adapters.
