Advent Basilica named Europe's best Christmas market

The Advent Basilica in Budapest has been named the Best Christmas Market in Europe by Europe Best Destinations (EBD). The award was presented in Monaco on October 9, 2026, following a selection process involving a shortlist of 40 markets and evaluations from over 11,000 travelers.

This recognition is particularly notable as the Basilica won from the ‘All stars’ category, which features previous multiple-time winners. The event, held in front of St. Stephen's Basilica, was praised for its unique combination of culture, gastronomy, craftsmanship, and lighting.

This marks another major accolade for the Budapest event, which has previously won the title multiple times and was recognized by Forbes. EBD Managing Director Maximilien Lejeune noted that the market succeeds by creating a harmony of beauty, atmosphere, and authenticity that encourages repeat visits.
