Advocacy groups in Nigeria call for protection of girls' rights

Civil society organizations and local government bodies in Nigeria are intensifying efforts to protect women and children. In Bauchi State, the CHILD is GOLD Foundation and SISIWACHI conducted an advocacy visit to the newly established Family Court. The initiative aims to increase public awareness of the court's mandate and improve access to justice for vulnerable groups, specifically focusing on preventing gender-based violence, child marriage, and child abuse.

In the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), officials commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child by calling for an end to child marriage and increased investment in girls' education. The event included a mock parliamentary session designed to promote leadership and civic participation among young girls, emphasizing the need for community and government action to safeguard their rights and future opportunities.
