Adwoa Safo says she is honoring her father's wishes in Kristo Asafo church dispute

Former Ghanaian MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has rejected claims that the conflict over the Kristo Asafo church is driven by a power grab or inheritance fight. In a statement on 3 July 2026, she said the dispute centres on respecting the final directives of her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who amended the church constitution in 2024 to remove Israel Kwadwo Safo from leadership and appoint her as head of the Kantanka family in February 2025.

Safo also denied rumors of an inheritance battle, emphasizing that her father left a valid will and that she has never sought personal wealth from his estate. She referenced an alleged assassination attempt on 21 June 2026, accusing public commentary of distorting the issue. Her primary aim, she said, is to fulfil her father's last wishes and ensure justice for the church and family.

The controversy has drawn public attention in Ghana, highlighting tensions between religious leadership succession and family legacy.
