Adıyaman Municipality develops Local Equality Action Plan

Adıyaman Municipality is preparing a Local Equality Action Plan as part of the Women Friendly Cities Program. An educational program was held between August 31 and September 4, involving municipal staff and representatives from local non-governmental organizations.

The initiative is coordinated by the Presidency for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is financed by the European Union. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is implementing the program, with the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye serving as a partner.

Training sessions focused on strengthening gender equality approaches within local governments, improving institutional capacity, and supporting women's equal participation in urban life. Workshops also addressed specific challenges faced by women in Adıyaman to identify local needs and priorities. The final action plan will be developed through collaboration between the municipality and local civil society organizations to establish effective equality mechanisms and improve inter-institutional coordination.
