A+E Global Media expands strategy with microdramas and K-pop
A+E Global Media is expanding its international content strategy through two primary pillars: vertical microdramas and the integration of K-pop talent.
To address mobile-first consumption, Lifetime is launching a slate of premium microdramas. This initiative includes original vertical films and nearly 200 adapted titles from the A+E library, designed for viewing on the Lifetime mobile app and MyLifetime.com. These chapter-ized, vertical formats aim to provide emotional and suspenseful storytelling optimized for mobile devices.
Simultaneously, A+E is leveraging the global influence of K-pop stars to drive success in international markets, particularly in Korea. Executives Patrick Vien and Youngsun Soh noted that K-pop idols play a critical role in casting and creative decisions for scripted shows. Most of the 14 original Korean drama series produced by A+E since 2017 have featured K-pop talent, such as Astro’s Cha Eun-woo and Got7’s Park Jin-young, to ensure appeal across network television and streaming platforms.
