Ae Laos musical theatre production begins nationwide tour
The musical theatre production ‘Ae Laos’, directed by Stelios Vrachnis, is embarking on a nationwide tour in Greece. The performance integrates the musical legacy of Dimitris Lagios and Sotiria Bellou with Euripides’ ancient tragedy ‘The Trojan Women’.
Forty-three years after the release of the historic 1983 album ‘Ae Laos’, this production presents the work as a large-scale, unified musical theatre event. The staging creates a dramatic dialogue between the modern Greek musical heritage and the classical text, serving as a scenic requiem for the victims of war and the consequences of historical loss.
The production features a large ensemble of nineteen actors, singers, and musicians. Key performers include Giota Festa as Hecuba, Ioanna Pilichou as Andromache, and Alkistis Angelopoulou as Cassandra. The musical arrangements for the performance include strings, winds, and electronic sounds to bridge the gap between memory and the present.
