AE Mesolongiou withdraws from regional football league

The historic football club AE Mesolongiou has officially withdrawn from the A' Category of the Aetolia-Acarnania Football Clubs Association (EPSA) due to severe administrative and financial difficulties. Following the failure of last-minute attempts to secure the club's participation, board members Vasilis Katsaganis and Spyros Karvelis submitted their resignations, leaving the club without current management.

To preserve the club's legacy, the official seal will be transferred to the youth academies to ensure their continued operation. The withdrawal of the club, which was founded in 1931 and has a long history in national divisions, has been described as a ‘black page’ for regional football.

Panetolikos FC issued a statement expressing sadness and concern over the collapse, citing it as a symptom of the broader decline in amateur football within the region. The club criticized local sports authorities and institutional bodies for their perceived indifference to the ongoing dissolution of local football structures.
