Rayo Vallecano sanctioned with stadium closure and fine

Rayo Vallecano has been sanctioned by the RFEF Discipline Committee following the suspension of their LaLiga match against Athletic Club. The match was halted in the 25th minute due to fans throwing objects, including paper airplanes and rubber balls, onto the pitch. The protest was directed at club president Raúl Martín Presa.

The disciplinary ruling imposes a 6,000 euro fine and a partial closure of the Vallecas stadium. Specifically, the section behind the dressing rooms (the 'fondo') will be closed for one match. The club's attempt to claim responsibility lay solely with ultra groups was rejected by the committee, which held the club responsible for the grave disturbance of order. The club has also been formally warned that a repeat incident could lead to a total closure of the stadium.
