AEC sector adopts digital workflow technologies

The architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry is rapidly shifting from traditional 2D drawings to data‑rich 3D models. Converting CAD files to Building Information Modeling (BIM) improves coordination, reduces errors and lowers project costs, while scan‑to‑BIM uses laser‑scanned point clouds to create accurate models of existing structures.

In parallel, AEC firms are implementing dedicated document‑management systems to centralize drawings, contracts, specifications and communications. These platforms provide standardized folder structures, version history, role‑based permissions and integrated storage for large CAD and BIM files, helping teams locate and share information more efficiently throughout a project’s lifecycle.
