AEDyR to lead international working group on agricultural water reuse

The Spanish Association of Desalination and Reuse (AEDyR) will lead a new international working group established by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID). The group, titled the Working Group on Desalination and Reuse in Agriculture Water Management (WG-D&R-AWM), focuses on integrating desalination and water reuse into agricultural water management to combat water scarcity and climate change.

The initiative was approved during the 77th ICID meeting held in Marseille. The working group is slated for a six-year mandate spanning from 2026 to 2032. Elena Crespo and Noemí Sánchez, members of the AEDyR Board of Directors, have been proposed to lead the group.

The program aims to produce five technical documents, six national studies, and two scientific publications, alongside various cooperation and training activities. The goal is to share Spanish expertise in water management on a global stage to address the impacts of climate change on agricultural production.
