Aegean Airlines carries over 2 million passengers in July

Aegean Airlines reported a new historic high for July, transporting 2,011,000 passengers – the first time the carrier has exceeded two million travelers in a single month. The increase was evenly split between domestic and international networks, with a 5.3% annual growth rate for both. In July, 886,000 passengers used the domestic network on 66 routes to 32 destinations, while 1,125,000 travelled on the international network across 154 routes to 108 destinations in 43 countries.

The airline highlighted its third consecutive year of expanding direct connections from Thessaloniki, Heraklion and Rhodes to smaller domestic destinations, adding 38 routes to 24 non‑Athens locations and shortening travel times. Deputy CEO Michalis Kouvellios said the growth is being supported by the acquisition of seven additional A321neo aircraft scheduled for delivery by 2026, despite high fuel costs and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East that affect network coverage.

Aegean plans to continue expanding capacity with larger aircraft and more seats per flight, while managing operational constraints at its main hub in Athens.
