Aegean Airlines reports 3% passenger increase in H1 2026
Aegean Airlines reported positive but reduced profitability for the second quarter of 2026. During the first half of the year, the airline transported 7.8 million passengers, representing a 3% increase in passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2025.
Consolidated turnover for the first half of 2026 reached €816.6 million, a 4% increase year-on-year. While domestic passenger traffic grew by 6%, international traffic remained at 2025 levels. The airline noted that geopolitical developments in the Middle East impacted its international network, leading to a four-month suspension of certain flights from March to June and affecting transit demand through the Athens hub.
Profitability faced significant pressure due to rising fuel costs and operational challenges in the Middle East. Despite these headwinds, the airline maintained a load factor of 80.3%. For the second quarter specifically, turnover rose by 3% to €495.8 million.
