AEK Athens near completion of Kaan Kairinen transfer from Sparta Prague

AEK Athens announced they are finalising the signing of 27‑year‑old Finnish left‑footed midfielder Kaan Kairinen from Czech side Sparta Prague. He is expected to travel to Greece within hours for a medical examination and, if successful, sign a four‑year contract worth about €1 million per year.

The deal includes a reported €4 million fee to Sparta, which acquired Kairinen for €1.5 million from Lille in 2021. Coach Marco Nicolits says the box‑to‑box player, capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or number‑10, fits the club’s midfield needs. Kairinen has 28 caps for Finland, made 44 appearances for Sparta last season, and has won two Czech league titles and a cup.
