AEK Athens close to signing Hungarian midfielder Milán Vitális

AEK Athens is in advanced negotiations with Hungarian champions Ferencváros (Győr) to acquire 24‑year‑old midfielder Milán Vitális. The deal, valued at around €2.5 million, is expected to be finalised early August. Vitális, a box‑to‑box midfielder who has featured for Hungary’s national team, would not be eligible for the Champions League play‑offs because he has already appeared for Ferencváros in the competition.

The transfer window opened after a tense incident at Győr’s dressing‑room involving Vitális and coach Efraín Houares, which led the Hungarian side to consider off‑loading the player. AEK’s sporting director Marco Nicolits has identified Vitális as a primary target to strengthen the central midfield, while the club also monitors left‑back Filip Kostis as a secondary option.
