AEK Athens prepares for crucial Conference League tie vs Beitar Jerusalem
Greek club AEK Athens is gearing up for its first official match of the season and the first under new coach Mauro Camorani. On Thursday, 23 July at 19:30, AEK will host Israeli side Beitar Jerusalem in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. A victory would give the Greek side a decisive edge before a potential replay on neutral ground in Romania, arranged because of unrest in a neighbouring country.
Ahead of the match, AEK held a ceremonial presentation of the squad behind the east stand of the AEK Arena, distributing autographs to supporters. The club also marked its 32‑year anniversary and the combined 102‑year history of its predecessor entities, EPΑ and ΠΟΛ. The team aims to use a positive result as a “shield” to boost confidence for the upcoming European campaign and the domestic season.
