AEK coach Marko Nikolic criticizes loss to PAOK

AEK Athens head coach Marko Nikolic expressed frustration following a 3-1 defeat against PAOK in the fourth round of the Superbet Greek Cup at Toumba Stadium. Nikolic noted that despite controlling 65% of possession and maintaining a strong passing game, the team suffered from a lack of decisiveness in front of goal.

The coach specifically labeled the second goal conceded on a counter-attack as ‘unacceptable,’ noting that the team had already discussed defensive vulnerabilities in the locker room. He also addressed the impact of a new regulation requiring the inclusion of two young players on the pitch, suggesting the team might not be fully prepared due to receiving the updated information only ten days before the season began.

In a separate development, Aleksandar Stanojevic, the newly appointed coach of Partizan, praised Nikolic during a press conference, describing him as the ‘best Serbian coach’ and mentioning prior communication between the two.
