AEK Larnaca targets Swedish midfielder Kerim Marbti
AEK Larnaca is in advanced negotiations to sign 32‑year‑old Kerim Marbti, a Swedish‑passport midfielder who most recently left Belgian side K.V. Mechelen as a free agent. Coach Tsabi Roka has identified Marbti as the player who can add quality, creativity and experience to the club’s central midfield ahead of the new season. Marbti is praised for his versatility, able to operate as a defensive midfielder (number 6), a central midfielder (8) or an attacking midfielder (10).
Marbti began his career in Sweden with Djurgårdens IF, later playing for Birmingham City in England’s Championship before moving to Mechelen, where he made 191 appearances and scored 33 goals. He has also earned three caps for the Swedish national team. The deal is considered settled and could be announced within the day.
