AEK secures 49‑year lease of Sunel Arena until 2075

The Greek Parliament is set to vote on a law amendment that grants the basketball club AEK a 49‑year concession of the Olympic Center Upper Liosia (Sunel Arena) until 2075. The amendment, incorporated in the Ministry of Culture’s bill (articles 136‑140), was filed on 21 July 2026 and will be debated by the Standing Committee on Educational Affairs on 23 July.

The concession includes the arena, ancillary facilities, surrounding areas and parking. AEK must invest at least €4 million in the first 12 years and will remit 30 % of net commercial revenues (excluding ticket, sponsorship, TV and advertising income) to the Hellenic Sports Federation (SEF). The venue will remain available for national basketball team use and staff conditions will not change.

Sports Minister Giannis Vroutsis was thanked by the club for facilitating the deal, which resolves a long‑standing issue of AEK lacking a permanent home ground.
