Greek basketball teams secure European victories

Greek basketball teams achieved notable results in European competitions. In the EuroCup, Aris secured a 93-80 victory against Burgos at the Nick Galis Hall. Despite a strong first half, Aris coach Vasilis Spanoulis noted that the team struggled in the second half, allowing 16 offensive rebounds. The match was marked by a high-energy atmosphere and the presence of club owner Richard Sia and legend Nikos Galis.

In the Basketball Champions League (BCL), AEK secured a dramatic 95-93 comeback victory against Salon Vilpas at the Sunel Arena. Trailing late in the game, Frank Bartley hit a crucial three-pointer to tie the score, before Thomas Hertel scored the winning basket with just 1.2 seconds remaining. AEK coach Dragan Sakota emphasized that while the win was vital, the team still needs to improve its defensive consistency and chemistry.

Other Greek clubs also entered European action, with Kolossos Rodou and Promitheas Patras scheduled for FIBA Europe Cup fixtures, and Panathinaikos preparing for the LEN Champions League in water polo.
