Greek football club AEL receives ownership bid from businessman Zisis Delopoulos

AEL, one of Greece’s historic football clubs, has been approached by entrepreneur Zisis Delopoulos, who submitted a formal letter of interest to acquire the share package held by the Davellis family. The proposal calls for an organized due‑diligence process involving legal and financial advisers to evaluate the club’s finances, contracts and obligations before any investment decision is made.

Club president Konstantinos Konstantinou later addressed the General Assembly, highlighting recent financial improvements, repayment of significant debts and continued reliance on TV rights, ticket sales, sponsorships and player transfers. He affirmed that efforts to attract new investors are ongoing and outlined a recovery plan that aims to return AEL to European competition, targeting a top‑six league finish and eventual participation in continental tournaments.
