AEL Larissa defeats APS Zakynthos 1-0 in controversial match

AEL Larissa secured a 1-0 victory against APS Zakynthos at the AEL FC Arena, though the match was marked by significant controversy and a dominant second-half performance from the visitors.

AEL took an early lead through a penalty converted by Makris in the 7th minute. The decision to award the penalty, following a foul by Stikas on Kampetsis, was met with intense protests from Zakynthos, with reports suggesting the refereeing decision was highly contentious.

Despite the early deficit, Zakynthos, coached by Periklis Amanatidis, controlled much of the second half. The visitors pressured the hosts heavily, hitting the woodwork through Katse and missing a crucial 71st-minute penalty when Neira's attempt was saved by Venetidis. While AEL took the three points, Zakynthos earned praise for their competitive and organized performance.
