AEL spokesperson criticizes Cypriot football judicial decisions

Nikolas Leventis, spokesperson for the football club AEL, has issued strong criticisms following a recent decision by the Court of Appeal regarding the Kafou case and other disciplinary matters in Cypriot football.

Leventis raised concerns regarding judicial ethics, specifically questioning why a written statement from the President of the Judicial Body was released only two hours before the hearing of two serious cases. He argued that such timing lacks respect for the legal process and suggested the Cyprus Football Association (KOP) should address the matter.

Furthermore, Leventis highlighted perceived inconsistencies in the application of regulations. He noted that while Anorthosis received a penalty based on specific logic and articles, a similar appeal by AEL was rejected last year using the same reasoning. He also criticized the delay in receiving the written reasoning for the court's decision, noting it took several weeks.
