Aena begins land expropriation for Alicante airport expansion

Aena has initiated the expropriation process for over 88,000 square meters of land to facilitate the expansion of the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport. This land acquisition is essential for constructing a new boarding pier and a new General Aviation building.

The targeted area includes 25 parcels located within the municipality of Elche, classified as rural land. The process involves several private owners and includes approximately 4,276 square meters of public roads owned by the Elche City Council. The expansion is driven by increasing air traffic, which has created a need for more terminal space to accommodate new security equipment and comply with EU regulations.
