Aenza opens as Australian-Japanese wine bar in Darlinghurst

Aenza, a new Australian-Japanese wine bar, has opened in Darlinghurst, located near the established sake bar Amuro. The 50-seat venue features a nine-metre dark timber counter and an open kitchen designed by Like Minds Studio.

Owner and chef Joy Liu, working alongside head chef Josh Liu, presents a menu that blends Japanese influences—such as miso, sansho, and kombu—with Australian seafood like Murray cod and royal red prawns. The menu also explores international flavors, including mapo tofu and sweet-and-sour lamb ribs. The establishment offers a wine list of approximately 120 bottles, with over a quarter available by the glass.
