Aeolian Islands to receive multi-million euro infrastructure upgrades
The Aeolian Islands are set to receive significant infrastructure investments targeting road networks and maritime facilities. A €2.1 million extraordinary maintenance plan for the provincial road network has been launched by the Siamo Eolie group. This program is divided into three strategic lots: a €1 million lot for municipal roads, an €800,000 lot for road surface restoration and safety in the Vulcano, Acquacalda, and Lipari center areas, and a €300,000 lot currently in the advanced design phase for additional road interventions.
In addition to roadworks, the Sicilian regional government has approved a major plan for maritime infrastructure in the minor islands. An investment of over €15.7 million, funded by state resources through an agreement with the Casa Italia department, will focus on safety and seismic risk prevention. Specific maritime projects include €4 million for the commercial port of Santa Marina Salina, €3.78 million for the port of Pignataro in Lipari, €2.486 million for Filicudi, €1.196 million for Panarea, and €600,000 to reinforce the pier in Acquacalda. Other regional funds will also support port works in Marettimo, Sant’Agata di Militello, and Sciacca.
