AEON Bank user reports RM1 billion transaction error

A social media user, Wan Mohd Fairuz, reported a massive banking anomaly when his AEON Bank account appeared to receive a transaction totaling RM1,000,315,879. The transaction, recorded on October 14, 2026, was labeled as a “Bank adjustment” under the category “Rewards – Promotion/Campaign” for a Merdeka/Malaysia Day 2026 campaign.

Fairuz noted that he did not participate in any activities that would warrant such a sum and contacted the bank approximately one hour after discovering the balance. Another social media user claimed to have experienced a similar glitch involving a transfer of over RM1 billion related to a different campaign cycle. The incidents have sparked widespread discussion online, with users speculating about banking system glitches or errors.
