AerCap leads global aircraft leasing market
AerCap has established itself as the world leader in aircraft leasing. As of June 20, the Irish-based company owns 1,461 aircraft, manages 128 others, and has 379 orders placed through 2034. Including engines and helicopters, AerCap’s total portfolio consists of 3,567 assets, with total assets valued at $71.18 billion.
In a recent milestone, AerCap delivered its 10th Boeing 787 aircraft on lease to Aeroméxico. This transaction marks AerCap’s 100th Boeing 787 delivery from its direct order book with Boeing and represents Aeroméxico’s 25th Dreamliner. The aircraft is intended to support Aeroméxico’s long-haul network expansion and fleet efficiency.
Other major players in the global leasing market include SMBC Aviation Capital, which manages a combined portfolio of 1,700 aircraft, and Avolon, which maintains a fleet of over 1,100 aircraft. Singapore-based BOC Aviation also holds a significant position with a total portfolio of 813 aircraft and engines. Approximately half of all commercial aircraft in service globally are operated through leasing arrangements.
