Aerocivil condemns illegal drone passenger transport in Meta

Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority (Aerocivil) has condemned the illegal use of an unmanned aerial system (UAS) in the Meta department. The decision follows the circulation of audiovisual material showing an individual being transported on the structure of a drone designed exclusively for agricultural spraying and dispersal tasks.

Authorities stated that this practice violates the Colombian Aeronautical Regulations, specifically RAC 100 regarding UAS operations and RAC 219 regarding operational safety management. The entity emphasized that manufacturers set strict technical limits that categorically prohibit using these platforms to transport living beings.

Aerocivil warned that such actions pose unacceptable risks to the life of the individual involved, as well as to third parties on the ground and the safety of regular national air operations. The authority announced it will initiate rigorous administrative proceedings and apply sanctions proportional to the gravity of the infraction if the violations are confirmed.
