Aerocivil sets power bank regulations for air travel in Colombia

The Civil Aviation Authority of Colombia (Aerocivil) has established strict safety guidelines for transporting power banks and spare batteries on commercial flights. To ensure aviation security, these devices must be carried exclusively in carry-on luggage; transporting them in checked baggage is strictly prohibited.

Regulations specify a limit of two units per passenger. Batteries with a capacity up to 100 Wh are permitted under standard conditions, while those between 100 Wh and 160 Wh require prior authorization from the airline. Devices exceeding 160 Wh are banned from passenger flights. Additionally, passengers are prohibited from using power banks to charge devices or recharging the banks themselves during the flight. Each device should be individually protected to prevent short circuits.
