Aeroitalia flight lands safely in Rome after tire puncture in Cagliari

An Aeroitalia Boeing 737-800 flight from Cagliari Elmas to Rome Fiumicino landed safely after suffering a punctured tire during takeoff on August 24, 2026. The aircraft was carrying 182 passengers and six crew members.

Preliminary investigations suggest the damage was caused by foreign object debris on the runway in Cagliari. Following standard safety procedures, the flight crew reduced the aircraft's weight by consuming part of the fuel during the flight to facilitate a safer landing.

Passengers reported experiencing vibrations and instability shortly after takeoff. Upon arrival at Fiumicino, firefighters directed passengers to disembark directly onto the taxiway to avoid moving the aircraft on a damaged wheel. Technical inspections confirmed no structural malfunctions or other anomalies were present on the aircraft.
