Aeroméxico investigates potential customer data breach
Aeroméxico has issued an alert regarding a potential data breach involving the personal and financial information of its customers. The company is currently investigating reports of a database being offered for sale on Telegram, which was first detected by its cybersecurity team on September 18.
The airline stated that the information potentially compromised includes full names, nationality, gender, email addresses, preferred routes, telephone numbers, frequent flyer numbers, and passport details. Some reports also suggest that financial data, such as bank accounts, payment cards, and loyalty program passwords, may have been involved.
Aeroméxico indicated that the incident appears to be linked to a hack of a platform managed by an external provider that occurred in 2025 during a period of widespread international cyberattacks. The company emphasized that its own internal technological infrastructure and core systems were not directly affected. An exhaustive evaluation of its technological systems is underway to strengthen security controls.
