Aeroparque Jorge Newbery to close for 55 hours for runway maintenance

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires will suspend all operations for 55 hours due to preventive maintenance on its main runway. The closure is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, and will last until 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 27.

The shutdown is expected to affect approximately 900 flights. According to Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, about 540 flights will be diverted to Ezeiza International Airport, while the remaining 360 will face rescheduling or cancellations. This diversion will cause an 80% increase in operations at Ezeiza, raising its daily volume from an average of 530 to approximately 940 operations during the period.

The maintenance is part of an $85 million investment plan by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 aimed at modernizing infrastructure, expanding check-in halls, and implementing new technology to reduce wait times by up to 33%. Travelers are advised to check their flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the terminal.
