Aeroporti di Roma and Italia Nostra partner to develop Fiumicino archaeological park

Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), a company within the Mundys Group, and Italia Nostra have signed a collaboration agreement to create a strategic framework for the valorization of the Porti Imperiali of Claudius and Trajan. The initiative aims to integrate the archaeological sites of the ancient Portus settlement with the ongoing development of the Rome Fiumicino Airport.

A key component of the sustainable development plan for the airport is the creation of a large public archaeological park covering approximately 85 hectares. This area, comparable in size to Rome’s Villa Borghese, will be made available for free public use. The partnership will involve detailed studies to ensure a long-term, organic vision for these significant Roman imperial archaeological complexes.
