Aerospace competitions engage students in Spain and Argentina
Educational initiatives in Spain and Argentina are engaging students in practical aerospace engineering through specialized competitions.
In Tenerife, Spain, the Spanish Space Initiative is organizing the Spanish Space Design Competition as part of the CIAC Talent program. On December 3, up to 250 secondary and high school students will participate in a simulation of an aerospace company. Participants will be divided into five teams to design a space settlement, addressing technical and business challenges including structures, mission systems, and human factors.
In Argentina, the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE) has announced the CANSAT Universitario 2026-2027 competition. This initiative invites university students nationwide to design, build, and flight-test small-scale satellites the size of a soda can. The program, supported by ACEMA, Fundación INVAP, and Fundación YPF, aims to strengthen national space ecology and scientific vocations by mimicking professional mission stages from design to post-flight analysis.
