Aerospace Festival opens in Olbia to explore space economy

The fourth edition of the Aerospace Festival has officially opened at the Archaeological Museum of Olbia. Organized by the AeroSpace Technology Education Center (ASTEC) with support from the Sardinia Region and the Municipality of Olbia, the three-day event runs until October 3.

The festival serves as a meeting point for industry, research, institutions, universities, and students. This year’s theme focuses on enabling technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, new materials, advanced manufacturing, telecommunications, and infrastructure. These advancements aim to support long-term human presence in space while driving economic innovation and new industrial chains on Earth.

Olbia Mayor Settimo Nizzi highlighted the importance of connecting the aerospace and innovation sectors with businesses to reduce bureaucratic hurdles. He also noted the relevance of the Einstein Telescope project, an international research initiative for gravitational waves, to the region's development. The event features an exhibition area with participating companies from across Europe.
